In this 6 day workshop, the photographer gets acquinted with the Zone Sytem and works through the steps of making a black & white silver gelatin Fine Print photograph.

 

         Introduction to the Zone System

         Film ASA (EI) Exposure Index test

         Establishing film Normal Development Test

         Contrast control through development

         Photography on the field

         Printing and the Archival Process

         Mounting and spotting

Prerequisites

Some photography and darkroom experience is required. I welcome beginners and experienced photographers. 

What to Bring?

      Bring your camera

     35 mm and 120 roll film users 20 films, large fromat users 50 sheets of your favorite black & white film, same kind and make (like Tri-X or HP5+). All should bear same batch number, date, etc.

     Lightmeter (if your camera incorporates one, that is sufficient)

    Bring at least five of your best photographs (prints and the negatives). The more pictures you bring the better.

 

 

Cost

 

The workshop is limited to 2 students. Cost is $750 USD. (VAT not included)

Deposits and Payments

Please make all payments in US dollars in cash or as a money transfer to my bank. A deposit of 50% of the workshop cost is required for each workshop you have registered for. Please email for amount due. The balance of the workshop is due 15 days before the workshop begins.

Credit Cards are not excepted for workshop payments.

Fees

Workshop fees cover tuition, chemicals, printing paper, matboards and mounting. Lodging and meals are not included
